readers/speakers, outdoor and indoor sports and recreation, reading,
fitness, a “free play” arcade, and indoor swimming.
At SCS we enjoy air conditioned indoor space including the gym,

Campers
are grouped according to age and each group follows a daily schedule.
There is an adult head counselor with at least one assistant for
each group of 12-14 campers. Additionally, each activity usually

for the daily swim we do not take any other field trips.

Music: Jazz, Blues, Percussion, African Drumming, Choral
Singing.

Adventure Camp
Our goal is to provide a unique participating learning experience in which campers,
under the direction of trained instructors, can develop leadership skills, teamwork, confidence and communication skills.
We will use safe, effective, ground-based activities and games for the campers
to successfully conquer obstacles and challenges, all the while having fun outdoors.
Additionally Doane Stuarts' 80 acre campus provides the perfect environment to
teach the skills of orienteering to these boys and girls. Using maps and compasses, teams will compete in races and scavenger hunts.
The last component to this exciting camp will be Fencing Instruction! Each week we
will start with an introduction to the sport of fencing and basic foot work techniques. By mid-week the focus shifts to detailed foot work and
foil strategy . Fridays will be fully equiped competition ( using "buttoned tip" foils, no sharp points ) using a round robin scoring system.
After lunch, we will swim at The University at Albany, visit St. Catherine of
Siena and return to Doane Stuart by 4:15pm.
Director: Kathi McGuigan
This will be Kathi's second summer with JMU4Kids. She has a great background in education, coaching, nursing and business. Kathi and her
