Q:
How is the supervision at the pool?
A: The University at Albany supplies 2 certified lifeguards and
we bring 4 of our own. Each Monday all campers are tested by a Water
Safety Instructor to see who can be a deep end swimmer. In the shallow
end we have a counselor (who frequently is a lifeguard as well)
in the water with every 2 non-swimmers if the water is above their
chest. The other counselors sit along the edge of the pool serving
as extra pairs of eyes. The lifeguards in the water also help our
youngest campers learn how to swim.

Q: What should our
child bring to camp?
A: A book to read, a lunch (unless it’s Friday or you’re
buying), a bathing suit and towel (if you’re swimming), sneakers
and a good attitude. Sports Camp kids are welcomed to bring their
own glove, bat etc. For the Day Camp you can bring a tennis racket
or a favorite golf club, but we have a supply of our own. Aqua shoes are also helpful at the pool.
Q: What should not
be brought to camp?
A: Anything like Gameboys or Pokeman cards. We are not responsible
for lost or stolen items. It’s helpful if the camper’s
name is on lunch boxes, towels, swimsuits, hats, coats, etc. Please do not wear heelys!
Q: Can my child be
in the same group as his/her friend?
A: If requested in advance, and the two children are within a year
or two of each other, yes.
Q: What are the camp
hours?
A: Each camp is from 9AM-4PM with complementary, supervised pre-camp
(earliest 7:30 AM ) and post camp (latest 5:30 PM) coverage.
Q: Is it possible
to drop off at one location and pick up at the other?
A: Yes, just let us know in the morning.
Q: What times will
the shuttle bus operate?
A: Approximately 8:20AM the bus will pick up at Doane Stuart and
get to St. Catherine of Siena at approximately 8:35 AM. The bus
will drop off and pick up campers to go back to Doane Stuart by
9:00 AM. This round trip will be repeated between 4 and 4:15 PM. The buses will operate between June 30 - August 15.
Q: What about supervision
on the bus?
A: We maintain the same ratio of counselors to campers on the bus
as
we do elsewhere. Additionally, there is a “trip leader”
on the bus who has required Red Cross certifications.
