Q:
How is the supervision at the pool?
A: We have 5 lifeguards one of whom is a Water Safety Instructor. Each Monday all campers are tested by a Water
Safety Instructor to see who can be a deep end swimmer. In the shallow
end we have a counselor (who frequently is a lifeguard as well)
in the water with every 2 non-swimmers if the water is above their
chest. The other counselors sit along the edge of the pool serving
as extra pairs of eyes. The lifeguards in the water also help our
youngest campers learn how to swim.

Q: What should our
child bring to camp?
A: A water bottle. A book to read, a lunch (unless it’s Friday or you’re
buying), a bathing suit and towel (if you’re swimming), sneakers
and a good attitude. Sports Camp kids are welcomed to bring their
own glove, bat etc. For the Day Camp you can bring a tennis racket
or a favorite golf club, but we have a supply of our own. Aqua shoes are also helpful at the pool. Xtreme Camp kids also need to pack long pants and a lightweight long sleeve shirt that will get dirty!
Q: What should not
be brought to camp?
A: Anything like MP3 players, PSP's or camera phones. We are not responsible
for lost or stolen items. It’s helpful if the camper’s
name is on lunch boxes, towels, swimsuits, hats, coats, etc. Please do not wear heelys!
Q: Can my child be
in the same group as his/her friend?
A: If requested in advance, and the two children are within a year
or two of each other, yes.
Q: What are the camp
hours?
A: Each camp is from 9AM-4PM with complementary, supervised pre-camp
(earliest 7:30 AM ) and post camp (latest 5:30 PM) coverage.
Q: What about supervision
on the bus to the pool?
A: We maintain the same ratio of counselors to campers on the bus
as
we do elsewhere. Additionally, there is a “trip leader”
on the bus who has required Red Cross certifications.

Q: What are the details regarding the shuttle bus?
A: From June 28 - Aug 27 we will operate a morning and afternoon shuttle bus between Doane Stuart and Holy Names. This will allow families to drop off and/or pick up at either school regardless of the location of their child's camp.
At approximately 8:15AM the bus will leave Doane Stuart in Rensselaer with any campers who were dropped off there but are attending a camp at Holy Names. It will arrive at Holy Names at approximately 8:30AM, drop off and then pick up any campers who need to get to Doane Stuart. Each morning at both schools there will be a clipboard to let us know if you want your child(ren) to be at Doane Stuart at the end of the day. Otherwise, they will be at Holy Names.
